Wooden Bow Ties

Posted by Lacey Wilcox on December 03, 2014

After the success of our wood brimmed fedora debut in this year’s NBA playoffs, we had dozens of requests to launch a line of these unique hats.

fedora-1

We’ve heard your cries for more wood, and we have answered, by creating an everyday piece for all you dapper dudes that is diverse enough to wear for any occasion (even your annual Christmas pheasant hunt). It’s the kind of headwear that could just get you on the cover of Garden & Gun. These hardwood brimmed fedoras are rugged, handsome, and ready for all-day action.

fedora-2

We use an American craftsman’s favorite wood—walnut. We’re rolling out a few different colors of high-quality, light-weight felt that add color and style but help keep the hat lightweight. We’ve finished the walnut in an appropriate shade to compliment the tone of the fabric and the natural beauty of the wood. Then we finish each one off with a band that’s perfectly suited. Our gray walnut is the only model without a leather band. Instead, we’ve opted to wrap it in gray felt? instead. Each fedora is classy enough to wear to dinner yet rugged enough to spend a day in the field. Really, it’s a timeless accessory any way you look at it.

fedora-3

The wooden brim isn’t just sharp and unique, it’s also durable. We’re in the business of creating things that last and our new wood brimmed fedora is no different. We’ve also solved one of the biggest concerns for the fedora sporting gentleman—the care of his hat.

fedora-4

With a traditional snap brim a man has to be careful about where and how he doffs his signature piece. If he places it brim down he must place it near the edge of a surface so the brim’s form is maintained. If he places it upside down on its crown, as he should, he’s placing it on its most vulnerable feature. With our fedora, you can place it right side up on any surface. We’ve solved the quandary that has existed for as long as the fedora. Also, you no longer have to be especially mindful of handling your brim with clean hands. Our wooden brims will wipe clean every time.

fedora-5

We’ve made this wooden brimmed fedora as rugged as you are. We’ve crafted a piece to highlight your stylish existence every hour of every day. We guarantee you’re going to turn some heads with this one. We can promise you the upper hand in almost any situation where your head is under these hats; however, we can’t promise you’ll bag your limit flushing pheasant. And we can’t promise you she’ll give you her number, but we can promise you’ll look dang good. If we know you, that confidence is really all you need.

  1. Wore it to back-to-back “black tie” fundraising galas and it went over great. Love this product!

  2. Great touch to a perfect tuxedo! Simple and elegant ! Very debonair !

  3. I purchased it for our 22 year old son for a Christmas gift bum sure he will like it. But I’ll get back to you after Christmas

  4. This is my third 2 guys bowtie that I purchased to wear for my 30th birthday celebration. I intend to rock it with a white button up shirt with a medium spread collar, and a black velvet dinner jacket. A superb blend of innovation and craftmanship, the Russell is everything you need it to be when you want to make that certain statement. I will be able to wear this to any black tie function for years to come and most likely cause every guy in the room that doesn’t have a wooden bowtie to feel significantly inferior to my swagger. I could not be more pleased with my purchase and recommend this product to anyone who wishes to distinguish himself from the rest.

My beard lube purchase, however, is a different story…

  1. Super unique and different. Excellent gift!

  2. When wearing a Two Guys Bowtie be prepared for strangers to come up and complement you. As a political photographer I’ve had some pretty well know people make comments such as, “Is that a wooden bow tie? I’ve never seen one of those before.” In those moments I take much joy in telling them all about it and bragging about how it’s made right here in Tulsa.

If your wearing a just prepare yourself to bombarded with complements and questions.

  3. High quality bow tie. I purchased it online without knowing anything from the company. Delivered in 36 hours from US to Europe.

  4. My boyfriend loves bow ties so I wanted to surprise him with something unique for our anniversary. Not only did he love the “Bernard” but the company was so easy to work with and got me the bow tie in NO TIME and in the cutest packaging! I would definitely order from them again in the future.

  5. I bought this for my boyfriend for our anniversary and it was the exact same as the photo! Great color of wood and excellent quality. Shipped to me very quickly!

If you live in Dallas, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed by the many options available for men’s clothing. While we are sure there are an abundance of stores that offer high quality, stylish clothing for well-dressed gentlemen all over the metroplex, let us make your choice simple: WAREhaus Dallas is the only men’s clothing store you need to visit.

WAREhaus Dallas began in September of 2012 under the direction of trendsetter Patrick Ware. From the first day they opened their doors, they have pushed to create a man-driven fashion haus with a focus on building relationships and providing unique, cutting edge pieces to Dallas.

Patrick’s vision should be enough to help you decide to choose WAREhaus for all of your fashion needs. With WAREhaus, you are guaranteed to find the highest quality, most unique clothing and styles available. Each cutting edge piece is selected with care, guaranteed to provide you with the most unique fashion options around the metroplex (and beyond). WAREhaus was also built upon a commitment to customer service. Patrick grew up in a home where hospitality was a part of everyday life. He wants the men who come into his clothing store to feel like they are actually walking into his home.

Your first step inside WAREhaus is a reminder that you aren’t entering another cookie-cutter men’s clothing store in Dallas. You are entering a man’s fashion haus that offers you nothing but the highest quality, most unique cutting edge pieces around. We’ve loved the way Patrick has integrated our wooden bow ties and lapel flowers throughout his store.

Because WAREhaus Dallas celebrates unique fashion, Two Guys Bow Ties is a great addition to the store (how many wooden bow ties and lapel flowers do you see in any of those other men’s clothing stores you’ve visited?). Just as we seek to provide craftsmanship into every wooden bow tie we make, Patrick seeks to provide only the highest quality clothing and accessories to his customers. It’s a great fit, and we love getting to partner with Patrick and WAREhaus Dallas.

If you want to read more about WAREhaus Dallas and Two Guys Bow Ties (as well as see Patrick wearing one or our wooden bow ties well), check out this recent mention by D Magazine. For those of you who don’t live in Dallas but still want access to unique, cutting edge fashion pieces, they will soon be launching their new website: WAREhaus Dallas.

“Russell” Combo

It’s unclear why exactly the valet tray became a modern man’s accessory, but it’s not beyond comprehension to assume that it was really just an effort to allay those all too frequent, “Where’s my keys?” moments of frantic pocket searching seconds before you’ve intended to leave. For a more uneventful history of the valet, you may be interested in its likely ancestor—the clothes valet. For the last 200 years, those who’ve had the means to don fine clothing have needed an item to organize it while off their bodies. Enter the clothes valet.

If every modern man over the last two centuries who owns fine goods has required a beautiful piece of organizing furniture, shouldn’t you also? We think a luxurious hardwood valet tray is just what you need. Especially considering that it’s hardly just a man’s keys that he needs to be mindful of these days.

There’s normally something unsightly about seeing the contents of a man’s pockets splayed out as he works at his office or home. But finding somewhere to stash his EDC can also be a problem because it eliminates a degree of accessibility and spontaneity. That’s why we’ve created our wooden valet trays to be masculine works of art. They’re some of the most appropriately sized trays on the market, and their aesthetic composition is unrivaled. This makes them a perfect display piece fit for any desk, counter, shelf, or nightstand.

We’ve selected the most lustrous portions of hardwood stock to create our five different valet trays. Each one will have a depth to its grain and finish that represents the finest a tree had to offer. Each one is uniquely different, as the grains of each portion of board are uniquely different.

The final bit craftsmanship comes in the form of our contrasting inlays of various other hardwood species. The stripes are what really give our trays the uniqueness you’ve come to expect from Two Guys Bow Ties. We think we’ve hit the nail on the head with this product. Get organized with these premium display trays. They’re no doubt as unique and handsome as you. Trust us, there’s not a more dapper bit of furniture that will help you always be on time, or even show up early, and get organized throughout the coming year.

We often get asked the question when a customer of ours is looking for a gift for a friend or family member, “What are some of your most popular styles?” So we thought we’d take a few moments and answer that question for you guys!

First up, is our line of Wood-brimmed Fedoras. Currently, we offer four different colors (navy, black, grey, and brown) in four sizes (Small, Medium, Large, and X-Large), all featuring a Walnut Wood Brim. In regards to our most popular style, we’d have to say the grey and navy ones would be at the top.

Next up, is our lines of Skyline wooden bow ties. Though we do offer a custom option for these ties (therefore any wood type we offer can be used), we offer four specific wood species as main products on our website. These include: Sapele, Walnut, Maple, and Padauk. Though our most popular wood type is Walnut (mainly due to lower cost and familiarity), our favorites are either Maple or Sapele as the engravings are a bit more consistent in visibility and wood grain.

In regards to outfit combos, some our bestsellers include: the “Arthur Combo,” “The Classic Combo,” and the “Marion Combo.” The 3-piece Arthur Combo (left) features Rosewood and Orange Crosshatch fabric. The Classic Combo (center) includes The Classic wooden bow tie made with Canary wood and Silver Silk fabric and the matching pocket square. The Marion bow tie in the third combo is considered an “inlay” wooden bow tie, which is created from two separate types of wood. This base of this style is Walnut wood, while the stripe pattern is created from Maple wood. The rest of the combo is made up of the matching Heather grey fabric and the Hampton lapel flower.

(From Left to Right: Calvin, Floyd, Harvey, Frank)

Here’s a look at a few of our most popular wooden bow ties this year. “Calvin” is one of our most popular painted styles and “Harvey” has been a favorite since the very beginning. The Bocote wood used in creating “Frank” is a sure win for anyone who loves unique and exotic wood grains, versatility for more formal affairs, and a high-end looking accessory. The “Floyd,” on the other hand, is front-etched with a plaid pattern and is easily our best-selling bow tie. It’s neutral heather grey centerpiece and walnut wood make it versatile, laid-back, and easy to match with almost any ensemble.

The most recently launched styles are shown above. Jack is our newest addition to our stock wooden bow tie collection, as the last three were all welcomed at the same time. They’ve been very well received as all four of them continue to climb their way to the top of our list of most popular bow ties.

Our lapel flowers have a handful of different petal designs as well as wood types. Currently we offer them in: Maple, White Oak, Wenge, Walnut, Rosewood, Padauk, and Purple Heart wood. At the top of our favorites are easily the all-wood type “Jamestown” made with Walnut, the Rosewood and Navy center “Charleston,” and the bright 8-petal “Cambridge” in White Oak.

1. The Button-Up/Collared Shirt

The first staple in wearing a bow tie, is a collared shirt. Smaller sized patterns tend to be a lot more visually appealing when paired with a bow tie compared to a large plaid styles. There is a whole range of colors, patterns, and types of collars, so get creative. Just make careful in mixing patterns to make sure they contrast each other. For example, vertical stripes and single color checks look great with polka dots, while a window pane pattern pairs well with slightly more mixed patterns that can include lines and/or shapes. Also, adding a vest or a jacket over top your button-up shirt is a great way to draw the eye to the bow tie, as well as give structure and shape to the whole outfit.

2. The Vest

The vest is our favorite go-to clothing item to wear a bow tie with. Whether your sleeves are buttoned up or rolled up, your ensemble looks classy dressed up or dressed down. They’re extremely versatile as they can be worn with a button up in the spring or can be layered underneath a jacket for the fall. Take a look at some examples were a fan of below.

3. Suspenders

A common men’s accessory, especially at spring and summer weddings, makes a great pair with a bow tie. There are several different thicknesses, clamps, style backs, and colors/patterns, which allows it to make a great fashion statement based on your individual style. Click here to shop at one of our favorite go-to places for finding your next pair.

4. Cardigans

The cardigan is another piece of clothing that adds interest to an ensemble and increases the versatility of the other pieces of clothing in your wardrobe. There is such a natural ease about them, which also makes them a great way to look dapper while staying casual. Ninety percent of the time, it is important to leave the bottom two buttons undone. Just trust us on this one. Most cardigans are a solid color and come in varying textures. It’s important to choose a neutral that goes well with your button-up, or venturing out with a colored cardigan and pairing it with a more neutral shirt. Certainly, again, there are exceptions to this, but it’s a great starting point.

5. Pull-Over Sweaters

Many people like to wear sweaters with their neck ties and button-up shirt. We think this is a great idea, however, we have come to believe that crew neckline appear to be more flattering for bow ties, while the v-neck style is more fitting for a regular long tie. It may be a rule of ours, but we all know there are exceptions to every rule! Check out the different ensembles we liked below
