We often get asked the question when a customer of ours is looking for a gift for a friend or family member, “What are some of your most popular styles?” So we thought we’d take a few moments and answer that question for you guys!

First up, is our line of Wood-brimmed Fedoras. Currently, we offer four different colors (navy, black, grey, and brown) in four sizes (Small, Medium, Large, and X-Large), all featuring a Walnut Wood Brim. In regards to our most popular style, we’d have to say the grey and navy ones would be at the top.

Next up, is our lines of Skyline wooden bow ties. Though we do offer a custom option for these ties (therefore any wood type we offer can be used), we offer four specific wood species as main products on our website. These include: Sapele, Walnut, Maple, and Padauk. Though our most popular wood type is Walnut (mainly due to lower cost and familiarity), our favorites are either Maple or Sapele as the engravings are a bit more consistent in visibility and wood grain.

In regards to outfit combos, some our bestsellers include: the “Arthur Combo,” “The Classic Combo,” and the “Marion Combo.” The 3-piece Arthur Combo (left) features Rosewood and Orange Crosshatch fabric. The Classic Combo (center) includes The Classic wooden bow tie made with Canary wood and Silver Silk fabric and the matching pocket square. The Marion bow tie in the third combo is considered an “inlay” wooden bow tie, which is created from two separate types of wood. This base of this style is Walnut wood, while the stripe pattern is created from Maple wood. The rest of the combo is made up of the matching Heather grey fabric and the Hampton lapel flower.

(From Left to Right: Calvin, Floyd, Harvey, Frank)

Here’s a look at a few of our most popular wooden bow ties this year. “Calvin” is one of our most popular painted styles and “Harvey” has been a favorite since the very beginning. The Bocote wood used in creating “Frank” is a sure win for anyone who loves unique and exotic wood grains, versatility for more formal affairs, and a high-end looking accessory. The “Floyd,” on the other hand, is front-etched with a plaid pattern and is easily our best-selling bow tie. It’s neutral heather grey centerpiece and walnut wood make it versatile, laid-back, and easy to match with almost any ensemble.

The most recently launched styles are shown above. Jack is our newest addition to our stock wooden bow tie collection, as the last three were all welcomed at the same time. They’ve been very well received as all four of them continue to climb their way to the top of our list of most popular bow ties.

Our lapel flowers have a handful of different petal designs as well as wood types. Currently we offer them in: Maple, White Oak, Wenge, Walnut, Rosewood, Padauk, and Purple Heart wood. At the top of our favorites are easily the all-wood type “Jamestown” made with Walnut, the Rosewood and Navy center “Charleston,” and the bright 8-petal “Cambridge” in White Oak.

1. The Button-Up/Collared Shirt

The first staple in wearing a bow tie, is a collared shirt. Smaller sized patterns tend to be a lot more visually appealing when paired with a bow tie compared to a large plaid styles. There is a whole range of colors, patterns, and types of collars, so get creative. Just make careful in mixing patterns to make sure they contrast each other. For example, vertical stripes and single color checks look great with polka dots, while a window pane pattern pairs well with slightly more mixed patterns that can include lines and/or shapes. Also, adding a vest or a jacket over top your button-up shirt is a great way to draw the eye to the bow tie, as well as give structure and shape to the whole outfit.

2. The Vest

The vest is our favorite go-to clothing item to wear a bow tie with. Whether your sleeves are buttoned up or rolled up, your ensemble looks classy dressed up or dressed down. They’re extremely versatile as they can be worn with a button up in the spring or can be layered underneath a jacket for the fall. Take a look at some examples were a fan of below.

3. Suspenders

A common men’s accessory, especially at spring and summer weddings, makes a great pair with a bow tie. There are several different thicknesses, clamps, style backs, and colors/patterns, which allows it to make a great fashion statement based on your individual style. Click here to shop at one of our favorite go-to places for finding your next pair.

4. Cardigans

The cardigan is another piece of clothing that adds interest to an ensemble and increases the versatility of the other pieces of clothing in your wardrobe. There is such a natural ease about them, which also makes them a great way to look dapper while staying casual. Ninety percent of the time, it is important to leave the bottom two buttons undone. Just trust us on this one. Most cardigans are a solid color and come in varying textures. It’s important to choose a neutral that goes well with your button-up, or venturing out with a colored cardigan and pairing it with a more neutral shirt. Certainly, again, there are exceptions to this, but it’s a great starting point.

5. Pull-Over Sweaters

Many people like to wear sweaters with their neck ties and button-up shirt. We think this is a great idea, however, we have come to believe that crew neckline appear to be more flattering for bow ties, while the v-neck style is more fitting for a regular long tie. It may be a rule of ours, but we all know there are exceptions to every rule! Check out the different ensembles we liked below

Nataley does it all at Two Guys Bow Ties. She’s been around since the company’s earliest days, when we crafted our handmade wooden accessories in our homes. She’s grown with Two Guys and considers it a great place for both her artistic design and leadership qualities to flourish. Read her story here:

nataley-1

2GBT: Tell us a little about yourself. What’s your background? What experiences do you think have helped to shape you to be so successful with Two Guys Bow Ties?

NS: Hi, I’m Nataley! Thanks to my super supportive parents I graduated college from Oklahoma Baptist University with a degree in Art and loved every minute of it, the art part that is.

I started off my college career as a Biology major pursuing a Veterinarian career; but after 2 years of science classes, I realized it wasn’t for me (thank you Lord). I have always loved to create and work with my hands so Art became my passion, and I spent the last 2 years of college weaving on a floor loom or getting messy with a pottery wheel.

Also, while at OBU I had the honor of being a team captain for the Varsity soccer team my senior year and I learned A LOT. A lot about cooperation, respect, authority, leadership, and what it really means to set a good example.

One month after graduating I got to marry my high school sweetheart, Kyle, and we have been married for just over 2 and a half years. We’ve been together a total of 9 years. Kyle joined the Marine Corps straight out of high school and served for 5 years while we were dating/engaged. Our long distance relationship taught me about appreciation, patience, communication, and the importance of good friends. I think the combination of mine and Kyle’s relationship; the best parents ever; science, art, and leadership have lead me to be a better and well rounded person and employee.

2GBT: What life experiences lead you to work at Two Guys Bow Ties?

NS: After I switched majors to Art, I was really struggling with what I was going to do with this degree. I searched for internships and landed on one for window and visual display at Anthropologie. I applied and met with the design coordinator Kara Paslay, and she hired me even though I had a sad little portfolio. She’s one of the most determined and creative people I’ve ever met. She taught me how to stretch my creativity and be confident about it. I learned A LOT.

The next summer, after I graduated, I reached out to Kara for work. She took me on as an assistant in the interior design business she created with her husband, Tim. That November, Tim and Adam started Two Guys Bow Ties and they needed bow tie makers, so I was hired on. I worked as a part time bow tie maker until the business started to take off and they hired me full time. I am so grateful they took time to teach me and let me grow with the company as a manager in training. It really makes me appreciate how far we’ve come.

2GBT: How would you describe your role at Two Guys Bow Ties?

NS: I manage the office and the production process. I get to keep a hand in most aspects of Two Guys Bow Ties and that’s probably what I like most—the diversity of my job. I understand how to make every product from start to finish; I oversee all shipping and receiving; I get to train awesome employees; I take care of office tasks; I’m the customer service rep; I work on our e-commerce platforms; and I act as Adam’s right hand ‘gal’. Additionally, I get to collaborate with Tim on designs. It has definitely taken some learning and training, but I’m so excited to be able to be all that here at this company.

2GBT: What’s your preferred work environment (setting, music, time of day, etc)?

NS: I’m a wanna-be morning person, so I like to think I’m going to be super productive in the mornings. But it’s probably more around 9:30 when I’m finally ready and excited for the day. I’m thankful my office is by a window because I need natural light, or I’ll think I’m in a cave and want to take a nap. For music, put on Ed Sheeran mixed with some T Swift and Katy Perry and I’m pumped (I know I’m a teenager).

2GBT: What’s it like being the only girl working with a shop full of guys?

NS: Thankfully I’ve got some awesome part-time girls that help even the ranks. I think we all work well together.

2GBT: While it might be difficult to make a hardwood accessory for men work for women, Two Guys has launched some fun women’s products this year. Which has been your favorite?

NS: It was really exciting creating some wooden accessories for women. My favorite is the reclaimed wood chevron necklace. The wood gives an ombre effect using white oak, walnut and rosewood; and it hangs long from a dainty chain. I usually wear it with a white shirt and a fun patterned cardigan.

2GBT: Of all the wooden bow ties and lapel flowers, do you have a personal favorite?

NS: There are so many to choose from I don’t know how guys ever decide; but, if I were a guy, I would probably be sporting the Mr. T. The Zebrawood is so bold and beautiful, and leather is one of my favorite things.

2GBT: What drives you or motivates you? What gets you up in the morning?

nataley-2

NS: There are lots of things that motivate me to get up in the morning. Mainly, I want to continue to learn and get better at my job and be successful, while helping Two Guys become more successful. I have connected with this company and feel like it’s my own, so I want to continue to stretch my limits here. I am also motivated by my husband who’s going through college now that he is out of the military. He is the most determined person I know, and I want to be his support by working and allowing him to focus on school.

2GBT: What is your favorite Two Guys Bow Ties memory?

NS: Probably the first month that I started working for TGBT. It was the first Christmas the company was around, and they had launched everything the month before. Me and 3 other girls were making bow ties like crazy in Adam’s home office. I think we made 600 ties in one very long day. It’s fun looking back on that day and seeing how much we’ve grown. We experienced a similar Christmas this last year. It was crazy busy. It was by far our busiest Christmas yet. It was really cool to watch and be able to remember back to our first Christmas. And, I’m not complaining, but it was pretty exhausting as well.

2GBT: Anything else about yourself that you would like to share ;)?

NS: I have 2 dog babies; Gunny and Roxy. They love Two Guys Bow Ties, and if they’re being good they get to come to work with me sometimes.

We love getting to work with you, Nataley.  Thanks for all you do for us!

Wood Bow Ties

1. They’re unique.

The most obvious reason is simply how unique they are. Couples everywhere are always looking for something special or new to set apart their wedding day in a personal way. What better way to do that than with high quality, handcrafted accessories for the groom, his groomsmen, and the handsome ring bearer, of course.

2. They can be custom-made.

The second reason is something we all love but have a hard time finding: the ability to customize your accessories to perfectly compliment your wedding style or color palette. At Two Guys Bow Tie Co., we have a wide variety of wood types, designs, and centerpieces to provide a world of possibilities. We also give our customers the option to send in their fabric of choice for us to use in making both the lapel flowers and bow ties. This option is extremely popular as it allows the couple to choose exactly what they want and allow our design team to help decide the perfect wood type to match both the fabric and your desired look.

Several of the wood types include: Sapele, Walnut, Maple, White Oak, Padauk, Wenge, Rosewood, Bocote, Zebrawood, Lacewood, Purple Heart, and more. We also have a large quantity of custom fabric that isn’t on our website but have available for your use. Just send us an email at: [email protected], let us know what color scheme you’re looking at, and we can send you photos of what we already have before you go shopping for your own!

3. They have sentimental value.

One of our favorite things about the accessories we make, especially the wooden bowties, is how easily it becomes a sentimental piece that can be passed down through the family. For only $10 extra, you can have a custom message engraved on the back of the tie. Some popular engravings include one or more of these: the wedding date, the person’s name or initials, their title in the wedding, a personal note, an inside joke, a nickname, bible verse, or song lyrics. We also can do front etchings for an additional expense, or engrave handwritten notes as well. Some examples we’ve done in the past are: “Marry you, why wooden tie?” and “I love you” written in the handwriting of a loved one. Unlike fabric only accessories that fade and become dirty or faded over time, our wooden bow ties age beautifully.

4. Two birds. One stone.

Wooden bow ties and lapel flowers can be both a groomsman gift and their accessory for the wedding day. Especially with our custom back-engraving option, it is a keepsake for them to enjoy for years to come. To inspire your own creativity, one of the couples we worked with put together a neat ensemble for each of the groomsmen to enjoy using an old cigar box.

(Fortunately for those of us who enjoy taking less steps if we don’t have to, each of our bow ties and lapel flowers come in a unique magnetic box with our logo on it for premium presentation. We mention this as it isn’t necessary to take them out of their original packaging in order to gift wrap it, but it is completely up to you!)

5. Quality craftsmanship. Made in USA.

Each and every wooden bow tie and lapel flower we sell is made right here in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Co-Founders, Tim and Adam, oversee every step of production and consider each product we send out to be a great representation of their own personal high quality craftsmanship. Supporting Two Guys Bow Tie Co. is supporting the hard-working men and women in our beautiful country.

With 20% off 5 or more items as our wedding gift to you, we can’t think of any reasons not to wear wooden accessories on your special day. Send us an email at [email protected] for your personal promo code or get answers to any questions you may have!

  1. Good looking product.
  2. So happy to receive the bow ties. Can’t wait to pass to our groomsmen. The bow ties are finely made, surpassed our expectation. No regret to choose wooden bow ties over classic bow ties. Love the engrave on the back! It’s amazing to see our wedding monogram nicely engraved on it. Cassie is such a nice person to deal with!
  3. This Bow Tie is the best tie I have ever invested in because not only is it comfortable to wear it looks great and I always get compliments on owning one!! Definitely would purchase another in the future!!
  4. Great product delivered promptly. Excellent aa around.
  5. Love, Love, LOVE this tie! It’s a real showstopper and people love it.

Wooden Bow Ties

Posted by Lacey Wilcox on August 27, 2014

The history of the bow tie is a long and dapper one. While we could share endlessly of its Eastern European history, we would like to share instead about its American heritage, serving the necks of some of the USA’s most rugged, sophisticated, and brilliant men of modern times.

Case in point:  Franklin Delano Roosevelt

Photo Credit Say what you want about his politics, there’s no denying Franklin D. Roosevelt was an extraordinary man with an extraordinary family. His cuz, Teddy, was shot in the chest before a speech and then got rushed to the hospital…After delivering his speech.

With such a legacy, is there any way FDR would mess around with inferior neckwear? Not likely.  He was a true fan of the bow tie.

Roosevelt was paralyze after contracting polio in his late 30s, but this didn’t keep him walking and standing during his terms as President. He braced up his legs and swiveled his hips across the Oval Office upright in a bow tie more than once. He delivered entire speeches standing behind the podium – his legs braced and entire body held stable by his arms. It takes some grit to wear a bow tie, and it’s grit that Roosevelt had in spades.

Photo Credit Some presidents see the world on the brink during their presidency, but FDR saw it pushed over the edge twice. Once during the Great Depression, and once during the Second World War. Unemployment during the Great Depression was nearly 25%, and you can see that times were severe. Roosevelt knew the nation’s confidence in their future was dependent on the confident image he presented. Little wonder he choose a bow tie so many times to convey it.

FDR also helmed the modern world’s most impressive military to victory in the last World War. He was the guy who got the call, “Sir, another country has managed to sneak through the entire Pacific ocean with 6 carriers, 500 planes, battleships, cruisers, destroyers, submarines, and midget submarines and they have attacked a city… here in America, one of our most strategic bases to be exact.” And you thought your job was stressful. Handle it in a bow tie, and no one will see you sweat.

Photo Credit The history of FDR is as rich as the history of the bow tie. We haven’t even discussed the Dust Bowl, his almost three-terms as President, or his political prowess at Yalta. Anyway you look at, Franklin Delano Roosevelt is an American icon. His bow tie represents America at its finest.

Steady under pressure and sophisticated even with our backs against the wall.

  1. My husband is an interior designer in the furniture business. After watching the Shark Tank, I was very excited to order one, as it seemed like a natural for someone in that business. He loves the tie. It is lightweight and comfortable and easy to wear. A bonus is that he is a guitarist and can wear it while playing. He can not tie regular bow ties, so he does not wear them. This tie is very attractive. If Two Guys were not picked up by Damen, I may have beeen sceptical of the quality. I will order more. Shipped immediately, even after that sudden exposure.
  2. My grandson loves bow ties! I knew he would like a wooden one-he had never seen one before. Ordered it for him as a Christmas gift. I had mushy grandma stuff etched on the back about success. I know he will have the tie a long time and eventually wear it to important meetings, etc. The wood is beautiful, as is the workmanship. I want to get him the New York skyline next. Thanks for putting out such a fine product.
  3. I can’t tell you how well it goes on, or how comfortable it is, as it’s a Christmas gift…. However I can tell you, it looks amazing! Excellent quality. And nice packaging. Stay tuned until after the holidays.
  4. We saw this product on shark tank and my husband though it was the coolest thing ever. He wears bow ties to work as his “signature item. ” He was completely surprised when he opened the box on our 18th wedding anniversary and saw the tie!
  5. Wore the Frank bow tie to a recent event and it was a huge hit! Beautifully crafted and very unique. Thanks guys!
  6. Awesome bowtie, and friendly and very very helpful customer service! Just what i wanted and that I imagined!

The bowtie goes very good to a stylish shirt and adds the last touch to an great outfit. All in all an awesome product!

  7. Excellent product, goes great with pretty much any shirt/pant combo, and really stands apart from the average dress accessory. I’m very pleased with the production quality and materials as well as the timely delivery of the purchase.

I highly recommend this tie for anyone looking to branch out into the realm of ‘interesting’, while still having a versatile accessory that’s right for any occasion.

Men, it’s time. It’s time to clean the grill, fire up the coals, and knock the cobwebs off those outdoor games. It’s time to get the crew back together for a little springtime backyard BBQ action. We know we don’t have to tell you that being boss of your backyard BBQ isn’t just about cooking some killer good meat. You’re also expected to jam good tunes, mix good drinks, and win any game played at your house including Cornhole or Washers. But you’ve also got to look good doing it all. Our wooden bow ties are just the psychological edge you’re going to need against your opponents.

corn-hole

If you’re wondering which of our handmade wooden bow ties will make the biggest impact and sway the situation in your favor for backyard BBQ glory, read on and we’ll explain. Our philosophy on the matter is simple: If you look good, you feel good. If you feel good, you play good. Let’s face it, no one wants to be the guy who loses games of Cornhole or Washers when he’s playing with home field advantage. We’ll make sure that won’t happen to you.

elmer

In any game of Cornhole or Washers you’re going to want to throw with Elmer or Blaise around your neck. Elmer has an outdoor vibe that just screams “I’m a Cornhole legend!” Have you ever known an Elmer that didn’t wear camo or pitch washers?

blaise

If our Elmer wooden bow tie isn’t quite your style, our Blaise will bring another kind of expertise all together. Blaise is versatile. He looks as good with a white cotton oxford as he does with a chambray work shirt that’s faded in all the right places. You could say Blaise is quick to adjust to any set of adverse elements. Wind blowing your bean bag slightly to the left? Blaise blends right into that environment. He’s unflappable. He’s even ready for the after party if you want to put the blazer on to finish the night out at your favorite neighborhood hangout.

Before you throw your next backyard BBQ make sure you pay attention to that little detail that scores big points. Order our Elmer or Blaise wooden bow tie today. It won’t be just to your Cornhole or Washers advantage to strap one on. A burger will taste better when seasoned, flipped, and served by a wooden bow tied man. A mojito, old-fashioned, or even an ice cold Dr. Pepper will taste best when delivered by a dapper dude like you donning the Elmer or Blaise.

When we moved to our new location here in Downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma in March, we knew we wanted a new store-front to be a part of it.

Over the past couple of years, our customers have often asked about a retail shop of our own that they’d be able to visit and see the product lines we offer, in person. However, conducting our business and creating everything in-house at a warehouse previously didn’t offer much room or flexibility for that. Thankfully, we’ve had our products in a large amount of other boutiques and shops nationwide where people could go to see them, but a shop of our own was something we looked forward to hopefully having in the future.

So after moving and becoming a part of the ever-growing Pearl District, we knew it would be the perfect time and place to finally make it happen.

We had a great time designing the shop, building unique displays and innovative pieces, as well as putting them all together it a way that we felt best represented our brand. Even though we didn’t quite finish it as quickly as we originally hoped (between getting the wood shop back up and running, new product launches, going to Market in Atlanta, and going through the process of getting on Shark Tank, our schedule left little room for our project), like everything else we create, we wanted to take the time to do it right and knew it was going to be worth the hard work and patience we put in.

And finally, on Saturday October 24th, we had our Grand Opening!

As a part of our celebration, we offered free custom back-etching on any bow tie purchased in our store, as well as giving away free sample bow ties to the first 50 customers who walked through the door. It was really great to see the overwhelming support and positive feedback we received as people from all over the state came to check out our newest addition and get in on the fun.

The photo above is a little sneak peek of our front desk. Designed using metal strips to mirror the look of wood grain, it was easily one of our most commented-on pieces.

From our wood-brimmed fedoras, pocket squares, wooden bow ties, lapel flowers, and t-shirts, we have everything we offer online, in stock at our store. So come stop by, say hello, and take a look around! We are open Monday-Friday from 9:30am to 5:00pm. Our address is: 623 S Peoria Ave, Tulsa OK 74120—We’re located just a couple driveways down from the Phoenix Cafe at the corner of 8th and Peoria. Just look for the sign below and you’ll know you’re at the right place!

Bow Tie Of the Month – 6 Month Subscription ($45 per month)

Posted by Lacey Wilcox on October 27, 2014

Fall is an exceptional season for men’s fashion. The change in the season and the cooler temperatures it brings leads to an onslaught of bold colors and creative ways to layer clothes for a look that is handsome, unique…and warm.

The change in the season definitely calls for some new pieces to incorporate into your wardrobe, but make sure you’re not just thinking of long sleeve shirts and sweaters. Our line of hardwood lapel flowers and wooden bow ties comes with some pieces that are sure to give your fall wardrobe a touch that is unique and appealing. Here are some of our favorite pieces for incorporating colors for fall into your wardrobe.

Our Marion wooden bow tie and Hampton lapel flower are all about warmth. Both pieces are crafted from Walnut wood for a look that is sophisticated and bold. Our Marion wooden bow tie features Maple strips inlayed throughout the tie for just a touch of intrigue. The yellow and grey centers of each piece coordinate perfectly, and are sure to complement a variety of looks this fall.

Few pieces exemplify autumn quite like our Clarence wooden bow tie. Rosewood is cut to create a horizontal grain, then given a dark polish before it is sanded by hand for a finish that is warm, striking, and beautiful.
